Sentinel WiFi works like your ordinary home router but comes with a SIM card for your region. When used in pair with Fleet Monitor it also gives you access to services like weather forecast and sharable journey maps.

Does it work worlwide?

How strong is the WiFi signal?

It’s strong enough to cover a 45 ft boat with good signal strenght.

How many people can connect to the WIFI at the same time?

There’s no limitation to the number of simultaneous users.

Can unauthorized people use my data plan?

No, because your guests access Sentinel WiFi with a dedicated password.

Can I use my own SIM card?

Yes, but you won’t receive our bandwidth management services. You can always subscribe to this service for an additional fee using your SIM card.

Can guests use their own SIM cards?

How much will Internet browsing via Sentinel WiFi cost me?

Does Sentinel WiFi support roaming?

Usually, our data plans do not support roaming. But you can use the second SIM slot with a local SIM card.

How do I manage quota for my guests?

You can manage the weekly quota for your guests in our mobile or web app.

Where can I download the app?

Download the Sentinel app from the Google Play, App store or use the web app at web.sentinelmarine.net

How do my guests connect to the Sentinel WiFi?

You should provide your guests with the network name and password. By default the network name is a combination of "Sentinel Net" and MAC address of the device.

How do I access the weather forecast?

To access the weather service connect to your Sentinel WiFi's hotspot, and visit http://sentinel in your browser.

Does weather forecast and other services count towards my montly data plan?

Yes, but keep in mind, that in general the data usage to access the service is very small compared to streaming music or videos.

How do I add more gigabytes to my customers?

Just open the Sentinel app, choose the boat and adjust this in the Edit menu.

Yes, easily. You can even change the password on the weekly basis, if you want.

I changed my SIM card. How do I change the APN settings?

Connect to your Sentinel WiFi hotstpot, and visit http://sentinel in your browser. In the top navigation click "Status". Login with the adminstrative credentials, and you should be able to change the APN settings.

I don’ t need the data quota management service. Can I switch it off?

Yes, set it to unlimited in the mobile or web app.

Pricing

Are there any additional costs for maintanance of Sentinel WiFi?

When used with our data plan no additional costs apply. However, if you use you own SIM card there is a monthly fee for the integrated services.

About Fleet Monitor

I have a Fleet Monitor installed. How can guests see their trip on the map?
×

You guests should connect to the Sentinel WiFi hotspot and visit http://sentinel in their browsers. From there, they should navigate to the page "Journey Map".
Moreover, if your guests have downloaded the Sentinel app for their smartphone, you can grant them guest access, so they can see their trip, together with additional information like sensors from within the app.
