FAQ

Still deciding?

Does Sentinel integrate with digital switching systems?

Sentinel offers two ways to control onboard equipment remotely, depending on your boat’s configuration and the level of integration you’re looking for.

Remote Control Outputs

Sentinel includes built-in Remote Control Outputs for simple digital switching directly from the app. BM-50 STANDARD includes 1 Remote Control Output, BM-50 PRO includes 2 Remote Control Outputs, and the Sentinel HUB adds 2 additional Remote Control Outputs. These outputs can be used to remotely control selected onboard equipment such as lighting, pumps, heaters, refrigerators, and other supported systems.

Integration with Existing Systems

For more advanced installations, Sentinel can integrate with compatible digital switching and onboard monitoring platforms such as CZone, EmpirBus, and Simarine. These integrations provide deeper onboard visibility and expanded control capabilities through existing vessel infrastructure.

Compatibility Varies by System

Some integrations may require additional third-party hardware, subscriptions, certifications, or compatibility verification depending on the system installed onboard.

Is my boat compatible with Sentinel?

Sentinel is compatible with most modern yachts and powerboats, including vessels with digital networks like NMEA 2000 as well as standard onboard sensors. If you’re unsure which setup suits your boat or whether a specific bundle is compatible, our configuration expert can help you select the perfect solution. Creating a personalized offer is completely free and comes with no obligation.

Can I install the system myself?

Yes. Sentinel offers two installation options, allowing you to choose the approach that best fits your needs.

Professional Installation (Recommended)

The recommended option is installation by a certified Sentinel Partner. They can recommend the right configuration, ensure the system is installed correctly, and provide ongoing support if needed. Professional installation also ensures full warranty coverage and access to technical support.

Self-Installation

Selected Sentinel bundles are designed for DIY installation and include everything needed to get started. Installation guides and video tutorials are available to help you through the process.

Please note that self-installed systems may have limited warranty coverage and do not include the same level of technical support.

Do I need hardware to start using Sentinel?

No — you can start with Sentinel GO, the free feature set inside the app. With Sentinel GO, you can actively track trips, manage maintenance logs, complete checklists, and more without any hardware.

To try it, simply scan the QR code, download the app, and register your boat — or add the Demo Boat to experience premium features in a fully simulated mode, completely free. To unlock full boat monitoring, including battery status, sensors, tracking, and alarms, you’ll need to install Sentinel hardware and subscribe.
